- What is EXIF data?
- EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata embedded in photos by cameras and phones: GPS coordinates, capture date and time, camera model, lens, exposure settings, copyright and more. It is invisible in the picture but travels with the file.
- Why should I remove EXIF data?
- Photos shared online can leak your home address (GPS), your daily routine (timestamps) and your equipment. Removing metadata protects your privacy before publishing or sending pictures.
- Does removing EXIF reduce image quality?
- No. This tool rebuilds the file without the metadata segments but keeps the compressed image data byte-for-byte identical, so there is no quality loss at all.
- Do social networks strip EXIF anyway?
- Most major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) strip GPS data on upload, but many messaging apps, forums and file-sharing services do not. Removing metadata yourself is the only safe way.
